Arsenal – Liverpool
It’s time once again for the usual Community Shield game in England before the start of the Premier League season. This time we are going to see a fixture between the FA Cup winners Arsenal and the Premier League champions Liverpool. Let’s preview it.
Arsenal’s young manager Mikel Arteta will aim to win his second trophy since he took over at the club. The fans are having high hopes about Arteta who is also a former captain of the club. A win against Liverpool would be a terrific start of the season for the Gunners.
Arsenal’s fans expect to see the new signing Willian making his official debut. The experienced Brazilian was signed on a free transfer from Chelsea. Willian could add some precious experience in Arsenal’s squad. Meanwhile Bernd Leno is ready to play again, but Mustafi, Chambers and Martinelli are not in the squad at the moment.
Liverpool will try to win their first Community Shield since 2006. 14 years is too much to wait, so the Reds are tipped to show their extraordinary qualities again.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Joel Matip are injured for Liverpool, while Trent Alexander-Arnold is not ready to play 90 minutes. The main centre back of the team Virgil van Dijk got hit in the face in the friendly against Salzburg, but now he looks ready to start the game on Saturday.
We have enough reasons to expect some goals at the Wembley on Saturday. Both teams have some excellent players in attack, so it should be a good fixture. Of course, Community Shield is not among the important trophies in England, but it’s a really good way to start the season.
That’s our short preview about the Community Shield match between Arsenal and Liverpool on Saturday. Sadly there won’t be any fans at the Wembley because of COVID-19, but we believe everyone is used to this now.
