Borussia M’gladbach welcomes Eintracht Frankfurt
Borussia M’gladbach welcomes Eintracht Frankfurt in a really interesting game from the 9th round of the Bundesliga. Let’s take a good look at this fixture at the Borussia-Park in Monchengladbach on Sunday.
Borussia M’gladbach are performing really strong since the beginning of the season and it’s not a coincedence that they are at the top of the Bundesliga standings. Right now Marco Rose’s team have the same amount of points as the second Wolfsburg – 16 and one point advantage in front of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig. We don’t know if Borussia M’gladbach can keep this tempo until the end of the campaign, but so far they are doing a terrific job.
Borussia were enjoying a run of four consecutive wins in the Bundesliga, but in the previous round they suffered their second defeat for the season. Marco Rose’s team visited Borussia Dortmund at the Signal Iduna Park and conceded just once, but it was enough for the hosts to win. Marco Reus scored the only goal in the game in the 58th minute. Rose tried to change something, bringing in players like Herrmann, Neuhaus and Stindl, but it didn’t help.
During the week Borussia M’gladbach had an exciting travel to Italy, where they faced Roma in a game from Europa League. The German side won a point at the Olimpico, thanks to Lars Stindl’s goal in the last seconds.
Eintracht Frankfurt are currently 8th in the Bundesliga standings with 14 points, but just two points behind the leader and their next opponent. In their last four games Eintracht achieved two wins and made two draws, which is a sign that they are starting to improve. In their last Bundesliga game Adi Hutter’s boys hosted Bayer Leverkusen and celebrated an exciting 3-0 win. Goncalo Paciencia scored a brace, while Bas Dost added one more for the win.
These two teams are in different positions in the standings right now, but they are much closer to each other than it looks – just two points. If they want to keep the top, Borussia M’gladbach must aim to win. But Eintracht are also aware that a win there could move them back to the Top 4.
