Deportivo Alaves – Barcelona
Deportivo Alaves hosts Barcelona in a match from the last 38th round of the Spanish La Liga. Let’s preview it and see what’s the current situation with these two teams.
Deportivo Alaves were not really convincing since end of the coronavirus quarantine, but they managed to survive and keep their place in the league after all. On Thursday they even celebrated their 10th win for the season which allowed them to climb to 15th place in the standings. Juan Muniz’ team paid a visit to Real Betis and celebrated a 2-1 win in Seville. Joselu and Rodrigo Ely scored for the visitors.
Alaves’ board won’t be completely satisfied with this season, although the team did what was the most important thing – survival. Still, we could say that in large periods of the season Deportivo Alaves were not at the desired level. They lost 18 of their 37 matches so far.
Barcelona are saying goodbye to a dissapointing season in La Liga. The Catalans lost their title, finishing second behind the new champion Real Madrid. On Thursday they dissapointed the fans again when they suffered a surprising 1-2 defeat at home against Osasuna.
Lionel Messi scored Barca’s only goal in the game against the Pamplonians, but Messi was also the man who criticized Los Cules after the defeat. The club captain admitted that the team is not at the desired level. He also admitted that it’d be very difficult for Barca to triumph in the Champions League.
Can Barcelona show a different face against Deportivo Alaves? Surely their defeat against Osasuna at the Camp Nou was a surprising one. We are pretty sure the atmosphere in Barcelona’s dressing room is not very pleasant at the moment, but they do not have any other choice – they must regroup and try to finish the campaign in a better way.
