Eintracht Frankfurt hosts Leipzig

Eintracht Frankfurt hosts the current leader RB Leipzig in a game from the 19th round of the Bundesliga.

For Eintracht Frankfurt this is certainly not the season they hoped for. Right now the club is 11th in the Bundesliga standings with 21 points, which is not where they want to be right now. Last season Eintracht did pretty well in the domestic competitions and even reached the 1/2-finals of Europa League, but now the manager Adi Hutter is unable to reach these levels. In 18 games played so far in the Bundesliga, Eintracht won just 6 of them.

In the previous round Eintracht Frankfurt finally won again, though. They visited Hoffenheim and went home with a 2-1 win. The Dutch target man Bas Dost scored Eintracht’s first goal in the game, while Timothy Chandler scored the second one. This was a win which Eintract really needed at this moment.

RB Leipzig are dreaming of the title and this is not a joke. At this moment the Red Bulls are leading the standings with 40 points, being four points ahead of the champion Bayern Munich. In their last five matches in the Bundesliga RB Leipzig are nearly perfect – four wins and one draw.

Last week RB Leipzig had to host the newcomer Union Berlin at the Red Bull Arena and they didn’t face any trouble to win with 3-1. The Red Bulls’ star striker Timo Werner scored a brace for the hosts, while Marcel Sabitzer added one more.

Winning their last game in the league, Eintracht Frankfurt could be giving us some signals of improvement. For them it was a big relief to win in Hoffenheim, but now they must face the leader. RB Leipzig will try to keep their advantage at the top, so they are travelling to Frankfurt for the win.
