Europa League – Leipzig-Olympique Marseille

RB Leipzig welcomes Olympique Marseille in a first leg from the Europa League 1/4-finals.

The German team reached this phase of the competition after eliminating the Russian side Zenit in the previous round. After a 2-1 win in Leipzig, a 1-1 draw in Sankt Peterburg allowed RB Leipzig to become one of the best eight teams in the competition for this season.

Before that, RB Leipzig surprisingly for a lot of people eliminated the Italian giant Napoli, despite of losing the second leg with 0-2 at home. Many people expected to see Napoli prevailing in this clash, but the club from Leipzig proved to be a very capable opponent to the Italian side.

Now, after eliminating Napoli and Zenit from the tournament, RB Leipzig will have another tough task against the French giant and former European champion Olympique Marseille.

The French club reached the 1/4-finals after eliminating Athletic Bilbao in the previous round. Rudi Garcia’s boys enjoyed two wins over the Basques, proving to be the more capable team in this tie. Marseille scored five goals in two matches against Athletic, proving to be a big force in attack.

In the German Bundesliga RB Leipzig are currently 4th, continuing their fight for another Champions League qualification. Right now they are just one point ahead of the 5th Bayer Leverkusen, so the fight for a Top 4 finish will be really intense. We have no doubts about that.

Meanwhile Olympique Marseille are also fighting for a return to the Champions League next season. They are currently 3rd in the Ligue 1, having just two points advantage in front of the 4th Olympique Lyonnais. It’s going to be interesting until the end of the campaign.

This is not an easy game to predict between RB Leipzig and Olympique Marseille, so be careful here.
