Hellas Verona – Roma

Hellas Verona faces Roma at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi in a match from the first round of the Serie A. Finally the Italian league starts again, so let’s preview this fixture in the next few paragraphs.

Hellas Verona will try to repeat their successful performance in the Serie A from the 2019/20 season. Ivan Juric’ team didn’t have any trouble to keep its place in the league and made some good performances. Now the fans will hope the Croatian head coach and his players will do the same way.

On the transfer market Hellas Verona made some deals to reinforce the team. The club signed the defensive midfielder Adrien Tameze from Nice, while they also signed Zurich’s Kevin Ruegg and Genoa’s Koray Gunter. Rijeka’s 20-years old goalkeeper Ivor Pandur will resume his professional career in Verona as well.

Roma’s manager Paulo Fonseca kept his job despite the fact that the club didn’t qualify for the Champions League last season. It seems that Fonseca will recieve a second chance to impress, but he’d be gone if it doesn’t happen again.

On the market Roma made an impressive move when they signed the former Spanish international Pedro Rodriguez on a free transfer. At the same time the Wolves paid 16 million for Jordan Veretout’s rights and also signed Atalanta’s Gianluca Mancini and Barcelona’s Carles Perez. After a loan spell last season, Henrikh Mkhitaryan joined the club on a permanent deal with a free transfer.

Some players also left the club. Patrik Schick, Gregoire Defrel, Maxime Gonalons, Aleksandar Kolarov and Alessandro Florenzi all chose different paths for their respective careers.

You better not think it’d be an easy game for Roma against Hellas Verona. Verona made a great performance in the Serie A last season and nothing changed that much for them. As for Roma, they need to do better if they want to reach the Champions League again.
