Inter Milan – Sassuolo

Inter Milan faces Sassuolo at the San Siro in a fixture from the 27th week of the Italian Serie A. Let’s preview this game and give you some information about it.

Inter Milan won their first game since the end of the quarantine in Italy. Antonio Conte’s boys hosted Sampdoria and achieved a difficult, but important 2-1 win. The Nerazzurri’s attacking duo Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez put their names on the scoresheet. In the second half Inter conceded once, but at the end they kept their advantage.

With this win Inter Milan remain third in the Serie A standings with 57 points won. The Nerazzurri are not in a position to challenge for the title anymore, but they are moving closer to a Top 4 finish and another participation in the Champions League.

Antonio Conte could be making some rotations for the next game. Players like Diego Godin, Danilo D’Ambrosio and Cristiano Biraghi could find themselves in the starting eleven against Sassuolo. In this situation Conte do not have any other choice, but to make some rotations.

Sassuolo returned on the pitch with a defeat. Roberto De Zerbi’s team paid a visit to Atalanta in Bergamo, but got dominated for a 1-4 loss. At the end of the game La Dea were already 4-0 ahead when Sassuolo’s Mehdi Bourabia scored a goal for the visitors.

With this defeat Sassuolo are now 12th in the Calcio standings with 32 points won. They remain 7 points ahead of the 18th Lecce and the relegation zone, so they will try to keep this distance until the end.

We have little doubts that Inter Milan are favourites against Sassuolo on Wednesday. There won’t be any fans at the San Siro, but the Nerazzurri have enough quality to do the job without the tifosi. Just like they did it against Sampdoria.
