Mainz 05 – RB Leipzig

Mainz 05 hosts RB Leipzig at the Opel Arena in Mainz in a match from the 18th round of the Bundesliga. Are the Red Bulls going to snatch another win here? Let’s wait and see.

Mainz 05 can’t possibly be satisfied with the way they perform in the Bundesliga so far. Mainz find themselves at 17th place which puts them in the relegation zone of the league. They have won just 7 points in 17 matches played so far. This is a bad, bad situation for Mainz.

Mainz 05’s board took action and decided to appoint the Danish tactician Bo Svensson as a head coach. Svensson is still looking for his first win since his appointment, but now he has a very difficult test ahead of him.

RB Leipzig are moving well in the league so far. Julian Nagelsmann’s team is currently third in the standings with 32 points won so far which puts them four points behind the leader Bayern Munich. Leipzig are moving well and they are in a very good position to chase another qualification for the Champions League. This is their main goal, of course.

Right now RB Leipzig need to shake their performance a little bit. Nagelsmann’s team won just one point in the last two matches against Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg.

Against Wolfsburg Leipzig didn’t make a bad game, but the two teams shared the points with a 2-2 draw at the Volkswagen Arena. Nordi Mukiele and Vilmos Orban scored for the visitors.

That’s our preview for the Bundesliga fixture between Mainz 05 and RB Leipzig at the Opel Arena. Both teams are in a need of a win although for different reasons. Mainz desperately want to escape the relegation zone while Leipzig will try to keep their place in the Top 4. Surely the visitors are the favourites here and they need a win after winning just one point in the last two matches.
