Olympique Marseille – Manchester City

Olympique Marseille started their season in the Champions League with a loss. Andre Villas-Boas’ team traveled to Greece where they suffered a 0-1 defeat from the hands of Olympiakos. Marseille were actually close to get a point there, but the Greek side scored a late winner in the 91th minute. It was really heartbreaking because the Ligue 1 side was minutes away from a first point in this group.

On Saturday Olympique Marseille returned to action in Ligue 1 with a win. The former European champions faced Lorient away from home and achieved a 1-0 win at the Stade Yves Allainmat in Lorient. Leonardo Balerdi scored the winner in the beginning of the second half.

Manchester City didn’t have it easy, but they started with a win in their Champions League group. The Cityzens hosted Porto at the Etihad and celebrated a 3-1 win. The Dragons actually scored first, but City took the win with goals from Aguero, Gundogan and Ferran Torres.

During the weekend Man City had a dissapointing result in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola’s team paid a visit to West Ham in London, but they only won a point after a 1-1 draw. The young star Phil Foden scored City’s only goal in the match in the beginning of the second half.

That’s our preview for the Champions League fixture between Olympique Marseille and Manchester City at the legendary Stade Velodrome. Both teams started their Champions League season in a totally different way, so let’s see how this one is going to play out. City are favourites here, that’s for sure.
