West Bromwich Albion – Leicester City
West Bromwich Albion hosts Leicester City at the Hawthorns in a match from the first round of the Premier League. Stay with us for a few minutes and our preview for this fixture.
West Bromwich didn’t spend too much time at the Championship. After just one year in the second division, WBA successfully returned to the Premier League. The decision to appoint the Croatian manager Slaven Bilic turned to be the right one – Bilic did the job and now West Bromwich are a Premier League team again.
WBA did some business on the transfer market as well. The club bought two players who were loaned to them so far – West Ham’s Grady Diangana and Sporting CP’s Matheus Pereira. Meanwhile West Bromwich also signed Wigan’s Cedric Kipre and Brighton & Hove Albion’s David Button.
Leicester City ended the previous season with dissapointment. For a huge period of the season the Foxes were in the Top 4, but at the end they didn’t qualify for the Champions League. Don’t get us wrong – it was a wonderful campaign for Leicester, it was just the end which was not that good.
On the transfer market Leicester made a strong move. The club spent a lot of money, but bought Atalanta’s right back Timothy Castagne. Don’t be surprised if the Belgian international turns to be a starter at the King Power. Meanwhile the left back Ben Chilwell was sold to Chelsea for an impressive amount of money.
According to some rumours, Leicester are negotiating a deal for Bournemouth’s winger David Brooks. We will see soon what will happen here.
On paper Leicester City are favourites against West Bromwich Albion, but be careful – WBA are just arriving in the Premier League, so it’s still not entirely clear what they can offer in terms of performance. We also don’t really know what Leicester City’s current condition is.
